Ball names are not measurements. Tennis, foam, and perforated plastic balls come in different products; do not assume that every ball in a category has the same diameter or works with the same pocket.

Check the actual ball and stick

Read the ball manufacturer's specification and the stick's intended-use instructions. Size is only one part of compatibility: shape, construction, and the pocket setup also matter. Do not force a wedged ball through a head.

The illustration above is a legacy comparison of selected examples, not an official size standard. Its labels must not be used to infer a universal diameter for foam or wiffle balls, or to treat a pickleball as the same product.

Organized play has its own equipment requirements

For league play, follow the current rules for your format and age group. USA Lacrosse publishes equipment guidance and links to rules; a lightweight practice ball is not a substitute for a required game ball.

The Skill Stick's intended use

The Skill Stick is designed for lightweight tennis, wiffle, and foam balls, not regulation-ball games. Check the store for current compatibility information instead of relying on a blanket size guarantee.

Lightweight balls can still cause injury or property damage. Choose a suitable target and backstop, allow for missed throws, and keep people and breakable objects out of the activity area.
